Man, this week was terrible especially today. My roomate is very inconsiderate. So usually when one of us is sleeping, we move out of the room into the living room so you won't disturb the person that is sleeping. But sometimes we have to do work in the room or do stuff. In that case you turn the sound off, and you be QUIET! well this time, I get woken up to music being played loudly on his laptop and him taking phone calls, and having full conversations on the phone in the room while I'm trying to sleep.

Anyways, that happened, so I was already not in a good mood to go to class. I go to my contemporary art class and I talk to my teacher about getting excused for my gospel choir concert that I have to go to because it's a grade. She informed me t
hat...and I quote, "Oh, I don't do that stuff, notes and excuses. You just don't get the points for the day." I tried to explain to her that it's a class and it's for a grade, but she said the same thing. So I walked back to my seat stunned....lol, literally stunned. So the whole class was me glaring at her with my angry stare! Fierce!

So I was very peeved after class, as you can see. But suprisingly, I hadn't exploded yet. It's funny how God is like...nope, I'll do something so awesome that you can't be angry anymore, you'll just laugh it all off. I arrived home to find a package for me. And it's my new baby, my first purchase toward my professional career as a photographer. I'm so happy now! Here it is.

It's one of the best portrait lenses in the business. It features the USM or "ultra-sonic motor" Meaning that the camera autofocuses and I can tweak the focus without having to switch it to manual. It's basically always manual. It's going to be the lens that is permanently stuck to my camera. I can't wait to try it out! Spring break is just going to be documenting the whole trip. You won't be able to take it out of my hands.

In addition to the package, my roommate is gone for a couple of days. So it's just me and kevin, the more quiet and mature ones. No more annoying pokes and inconsiderate things from the 26 year old, for awhile.

God is good. Yes He is. I've been listening to Chris Tomlin album, "Hello Love" while writing this blog and I leave you with a song... "Praise the Father, Praise the Son"

Sometimes I wish I could just skip some of my life, spring break....next quarter.....summer....taiwan mission trip.....new apartment with chris.....all those things seem within my reach but yet so far away.

Got a email back from Uweekly today. It looks like I have a photo job. It's nothing to be super happy about. I will just be doing the same thing I do at bento on the weekends but at the other bars. I will be basically doing some snapshot portraits at all the bars surrounding with a minimum of 30 pictures each bar. I would be doing 4 bars per weekend with $15 per bar....so $60 per weekend. Not bad for spending money or...saving money!

Anyways, God is good, thank God that His mercy endures forever. Prayer requests would be patience with my Chi Alpha Fellowship. Certain people are starting to get on my nerves.

I leave you with a picture from the Chicago trip. What started as another self-portrait with the Chicago city line at the jelly bean turned into....a group portrait. Shing, Chris, Jacqueline, Anna, all these people are part of my inner circle of friends. They inspire me to be a better person. We have our differences, and we fight, but in the end, I love all these people and I would have there backs any day, anytime. My question with this picture is...why does Shing look so...high.

I was doing my devo's just now and I was reading Psalm 125. It was so encouraging, so I thought I would share it.

"Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannon be shaken but endures forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem , so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore." -Psalm 125: 1-2

Those words are so comforting. It's a good reminder that God has everything planned accordingly and that He is impacting our lives everyday. I was talking to Sunny Hu earlier and praise the Lord for the healing of her dad! This is what she said.

"
He healed my dad just as I prayed. The doctors couldn't find the blockage so my dad didn't need a by-pass anymore! JESUS HEALS!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Proof that God is real and is ever present in our lives! I'm so happy for her. Lately I've been listening to the semi-new Gateway Worship cd, "Wake up the World" and there are so many new songs I want to do, in particular those songs where the it's about Jesus/God and not about us. This song is so good, it's called "We Cry Out"

Anyways, I leave you with a picture from the chicago trip..look at how happy chris is! HAHA

So I was watching Saturday Night Live hosted by Alec Baldwin with the Jonas Brothers. And I realized something. The Jonas Brothers are absolutely terrible.....none of them can sing. Granted they can play, but none of them can sing.....ok.

I leave you with more pictures from chicago. I tried to make a gif with this one, but oh well. Credit to Anna for taking the last picture.

Lately I have had no motivation to do anything....I hate going to class, and I feel like it is a waste of time. But obviously it isn't. This whole quarter has been no art, I haven't done anythign creative or made anything, only studying. Winter quarter is always terrible for me. I have 4 more weeks of these classes and then I can move on to more art. I also need a haircut. -_- I fail.

Obviously I'm complaining and I'll get over it, I like writing about my problems and getting it all out. Anyways. Gospel choir tonight where I sing like a black person. Astronomy quiz friday. Paper due next Monday. Scheduling next week. Second writing for Philosophy next thursday....man, I realized I have a lot of stuff. Then finals. oh joy.

I leave you with a picture from the Chicago roadtrip that I didn't release. Credit to Shing, Jacqueline and.....wtheck?! Anna?!...yes, she is the one that is peeking through the hole around my elbow..wow, I didn't notice it until now...lol, nice Anna! Anyways, credit to them for coming into my "self-portrait" But technically most of the people the picture are part of my identity so, yes, it is a great self portrait.

I have the desire to go out and shoot....some photos! But it's so cold and I hate shooting around during the winter. I'm so busy with school that I have no time to go out to a random place and just explore. Anyways, I'm really excited for spring break. Hopefully I will be able to get my new lens in time for the trip. I am going to photograph the heck out of that trip.

I leave you with a picture taken at Bento last weekend. This is DJ Jake spinning.

Presents!

What coincidence! I was awoken this morning by a knock on the door! Groggy and in my pj's I went to the door and opened it, and to my surprise, it was a delivery woman bearing a package! I knew what it was already but I didn't expect it to come so soon! So this valentines, I received an HP digital picture frame bought and sent by me! to me! Anyways, it was a boring day, did laundry, and lounged around my home...

Friday, February 13, 2009

phew, thought I lost my ipod, but I found it. I have a whole new bunch of music like, Oren Lavie, The Loney Island, and A Day to Remember, quite a wierd mix, but I like them all. Anyways, it's the weekend! Valentine's is this weekend? I forget. This is the first valentines I don't wish I had a girlfriend, interesting. BWAHA now the money that I would be spending on a girl, can be spent on ME! ok, enjoy your weekends. I shall be spending money on myself.

Today, I went to the shooting range to shoot some pistols because I am interested in investing in a pistol when I turn 21. I shot alot of pistols and it came down to three pistols. The Glock 17, The Springfield Xd, and the CZ compact. All would be perfect for a conceal and carry permit too. Anyways, other than Chi Alpha, that's the most interesting things I did tonight. The last couple of days, I found my self really tired and not as energetic, I don't know what that is attributed to.

I've Fallen in Love....

I've fallen in love. Yes, that is right. I've fallen in love with this....It is my new "want." This is what I want for my 21st birthday...the only problem is it's freaking expensive. I shall attain it! I SHALL! Some of the features include 21.1 megapixel, full frame sensor, self cleansing censor, iso range from 50- 25,600, and the best feature.....full HD Movie Mode....that's right. 1080p movie recording. How baller is that?! Here is a video all shot from the Canon 5d mark II. It looks so beautiful....

Moving on. There is this photographer I just discovered. His name is Vincent Laforet. He is basically what I want to become. Here is his exerpt from his bio.

"Vincent Laforet is a New York based commercial and editorial photographer who is regularly commissioned to work on a variety of fine art, advertising, corporate and editorial projects. His approach to aerial photography has been singled out as one of the most unique and interpretive amongst photographers today.

At the age of 33, his work has been published in most major publications around the world and he has been sent on assignment by Vanity Fair, The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, Time, Newsweek, and Life Magazine. In 2006, Laforet modified his staff position at The New York Times to become The Times’ first national contract photographer.

Vincent’s fine art prints are exhibited in galleries internationally including the International Center of Photography in New York City, and Visa Pour L’Image in Perpignan, and are part of numerous private collections."

Yeah, it's what I aspire to become...he freaking won the pulizter prize.....

So today for lunch I had.....

this! it was a bbq chicken wrap with a salad and french onion soup. It was really tasty! I had this at Cam's which is located at the wexner center which is currently exhibiting Andy Warhol's works of art. Now if you don't know who Andy Warhol was. He was one of the most important contemporary artists of the 1900's. In addtion He was the leader of the pop art revolution!

Some of his famous works are images you see everyday! He photographed people like mick jagger, marilyn monroe, john lenon, michael jackson (before he became creeper), liza minnelli, and many other famous celebrities

He was also a conceptual artist. One very abstract thing he did was he painted some canvases with copper paint and he has the people that visited his studio piss on them. The result was a very interesting pattern and an array of colors....it's weird but bear with me...it's what the world considers art. There are plenty of other things that are even more "terrible" that I haven't shared with you guys that is in the art world (I probably won't)

What he is really known for is his films. During his times film was just starting to become popular and he was the first artist to use film as a medium for his artwork. He made a lot of short films. For one film he shot the empire state building for 9 hours. Very conceptual. Not my style.

Anyways, that is my rant for today.

First midterm is finished! I think I did ok....I knew most of the paintings/statues. And I knew the artists. That is what counts. The rest is just talking about style and characteristics. Compare and contrasting stuff.

Now I have a paper and a quiz for the rest of this week. Then next week is two back to back midterms on Tuesday.

I'm also getting sick, pray for a fast recovery! No workout this week for me -_-

This weekend is going to be full of me resting/studying and drinking tea!

So today, I cooked dinner for my roomates and I. It was pork chops, tomato eggs, and rice. I cooked those pork chops perfectly, it was good.

On another note. I was watching the news and this guy graduated from northwestern (anna better read this) and became a mcdonalds store owner. He now owns 6 mcdonalds and is a multi-millionaire. He works in the mcdonalds too doing 18 hour shifts and managing. But yeah....interesting.

Ok, well, back to studying.

This weekend was really interesting...random and full of suprises. I don't really feel like elaborating, so I won't. All I know is I found out some things that I didn't really want to know...some theories. I think it would have been better for me to have them keep me in the dark, but alas, they didn't. Life moves on...

So school this week is going to suck, midterms and papers and quizzes. Oh joy...
